Tattoo regret is history, with modern laser removal in Jupiter, FL

Nowadays, if you have unwanted body art you don’t have to live with “tattoo regret.” The tattoo removal procedure in Jupiter, FL at Dr. Peter Vitulli’s A Center for Dermatology is minimally-invasive and effective at treating a wide range of inks on a variety of skin types and tones.

Benefit from modern technologies

The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery characterizes lasers as the “preferred” way to remove tattoos. In the past, unwanted tattoos would have to be cut out, burned off, or frozen off with cryotherapy. These invasive treatments weren’t a guarantee that the tattoo would fade to your liking, especially if the tattoo was green or blue, or the patient had dark skin. Today, Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Vitulli uses advanced laser systems such as PicoSure by Cynosure to eliminate even multi-colored tattoos, regardless of your skin color, and without the risk of scarring associated with earlier-generation, invasive surgical techniques.

How it works

Medical-grade laser devices selected by Dr. Vitulli generate a beam of light energy. Specific wavelengths are designed to selectively target the pigments in the ink. As the heat produced by the laser’s light energy is directed to these pigments, the particles in the ink are shattered, broken up, and the skin eventually absorbs what remains of the damaged, treated tattoo. As treatment triggers a process that naturally and safely eliminates the ink, the results are gradual. But, generally, with treatment sessions tailored to you, your tattoo may be history in a few months. A few of the factors that influence the number of treatment sessions required to successfully remove your tattoo include:
  • Tattoo color; lighter inks may be more amenable than bolder yellows or darker hues
  • Age of the tattoo
  • Size of the tattoo
  • Depth of the ink
Since the laser device has pinpoint accuracy, only the tattoo is treated. The surrounding skin remains untouched. PicoSure is designed to minimize thermal damage. But we can discuss options such as topical anesthetic for your comfort. Generally, those patients that have gone through the process of getting a tattoo tolerate treatment well!
