Aging gracefully no longer entails invasive cosmetic surgery. Today, your dermatologist has viable solutions to the skin issues that make you look and feel older. Ultherapy is one of those innovations in dermatology that gives our Jupiter, FL patients more reasons to smile. This FDA-approved procedure is safe, effective, and totally non-invasive, allowing you to resume your normal activities immediately, with confidence.
It is important to us that our patients feel comfortable with the recommended treatment plan. This page has information about how to plan for your personalized Ultherapy treatment - sessions taking approximately one hour to complete, depending on the size of the treatment area.
Before Ultherapy treatment
Because Ultherapy is non-invasive and non-surgical, general anesthesia is not needed in this procedure. Patients are awake and aware of their surroundings throughout treatment. As ultrasound energy is being delivered, patients may feel a slight sensation. The degree of sensation you may feel will depend on your threshold for pain. No serious discomfort should result from treatment. If you are concerned about discomfort, an over-the-counter pain medication can be taken before treatment begins.
During treatment
To begin an Ultherapy session, the skin is cleansed. A gel substance is applied to the treatment area, and the handpiece is placed against the skin. This device then delivers ultrasound energy through the surface layers of skin and straight to pre-determined depths of inner layers. This pre-planned depth is where collagen growth will be best stimulated for optimal results.
As the device is moved over the treatment area, ultrasound energy will create a warming sensation underneath the skin. This sensation, as reported by those who have undergone treatment, will vary in different areas, perhaps feeling more intense over bony parts. The heat felt during treatment increases and decreases as we move from one area to the next. Discuss your feelings with Dr. Vitulli during your treatment session so we can tailor pain management to your suit your needs.
After treatment
Ultherapy is non-invasive, so you can return to your routine activities upon leaving our office. There are no special creams or follow-up practices necessary to promote healing. Following Ultherapy treatment the skin may look somewhat flushed, gradually returning to normal tone within a few hours. In the first few days following treatment, some people notice a bit of swelling in the treatment area, or tenderness or tingling when the skin is touched. Slight bruising or a numb sensation is not cause for alarm, as these are possible effects of treatment, although they occur only rarely.
With advances in technology, the need for invasive cosmetic surgery is greatly diminished. Contact A Center for Dermatology to learn about Ultherapy and our other anti-aging treatments.
